German and French tie-up to fill Euro tax gap

French law firm Francois Sagasser & Associés is merging with Germany's Hemmelrath & Partners to create a cross-border European tax law firm.

The firm, dubbed Arccus Partners, is due to launch in mid-September and will include other specialist tax advisers based in Barcelona, Madrid and Milan.

A spokesman said François Sagasser wanted to create the service because of an increasing demand from clients for integrated tax legal advice across Europe, particularly assistance with the process of European economic convergence. He added that the firm has extensive experience in structuring international transactions.

Arccus will include lawyers who specialise in corporate, M&A and reorganisations, restructuring, real estate, banking and finance and national and international tax advice.
