BellSouth Corporation’s general counsel has quit the Fortune 100 telecoms group. He will be replaced immediately by two vice presidents in the legal department. The company stressed Charles Morgan had left for personal reasons. It was recently reported that Morgan had been arrested in May on one count of battery on his wife and two counts of cruelty to children. Morgan’s responsibilities have been reassigned to Marc Gary, vice president and associate general counsel, and Al Gonzalez-Pita, vice president-international legal, regulatory and external affairs.
