GCs and directors applaud Skadden

Skadden” />Skadden Arps Slate Meagher & Flom’s mantelpiece is groaning after the firm received two more accolades.

The New York-based powerhouse was voted the best US corporate law firm in a survey of directors and general counsels of public companies. It also ranked second in a client satisfaction survey within Fortune 1000.

It is the sixth consecutive year Skadden has won director and general counsel votes in the survey conducted by FTI Consulting. But the firm actually lost ground in BTI Consulting Group’s survey of the Fortune 1000, sliding back to second place in favour of New York rival Sidley Austin.

The loss was in part due to Skadden being given a mighty slap on the wrist by some of its Fortune 1000 clients dissatisfied with the firm’s service for the second year in a row.

Six other firms were also named and shamed in the survey for client dissatisfaction for the second year running.

In case you missed them in The Lawyer (29 May), they were: Baker & McKenzie, Cravath Swaine & Moore, Kirkland & Ellis, Mayer Brown Rowe & Maw, Morrison & Foerster and Shearman & Sterling.
