Garrigues has beefed up its Portugal practice with the hire of public law specialist Luis Fábrica following a strategy of lateral growth in the region.
Fábrica joins the firm from the Commission for Public Remuneration, where he was president. He joins as head of the firm's administrative law group in Lisbon.
Garrigues has boosted its turnover in Portugal by more than 180 per cent this year following a number of high-profile lateral hires in the region.
In September last year the firm launched an office in Porto with an eight-lawyer raid on Iberian rival Cuatrecasas.
The past year has also seen Garrigues absorb IP boutique Cabral Cunha Ferreira & Associados in Lisbon, while the firm also scooped an eight-lawyer tax team from Portuguese firm Castro Silva & Associados.
