Garrett & Co has poached property partner Louise Anderson from Cameron Markby Hewitt to jointly develop its London property department.

Anderson, who was at CMH for nine years – the last two as an equity partner – and has acted for Scottish Amicable and the Wellcome Trust, was approached by a headhunter.

She said she was not worried about Garrett's tie to Arthur Andersen. “Being a partner in a City firm there's a limit to what you can do anyway. I think I will have more freedom in Garrett & Co than I could have here.”

Garretts' head of property Keith Barnett said: “We are delighted to be able to attract someone of Louise's talent to the practice, she will be jointly responsible with me for developing the London department.”

Anderson said: “Garretts are really going places. Keith Barnett was one of the three partners with the firm when it started out three years ago. Keith and I have fairly similar views about what we want to do and I'm looking forward to sitting down and discussing it with him.”

Garretts has seven property partners and 22 lawyers overall, CMH, with Anderson, has 10 property partners. Barnett said he would be recruiting more assistants shortly.
