Twenty lawyers at Ever-sheds' Derby office have been transferred to Nottingham in what looks to be a precursor to the eventual closure of the office
The team of four partners, 12 associates and assistants and four trainees is currently moving premises, along with some support staff. In the interim, business staff from the Nottingham office have been housed at Derby. The process started on 1 May and will be completed by the beginning of August. Although the firm described it as a "reorganisation", a spokesperson would not confirm the long-term future of the office. A source close to the firm said that the ultimate closure of the office was "only a matter of time". The firm will service its Derby clients from Nottingham. "We wouldn't consider relocating all the Nottingham and Derby fee-earners into the Nottingham office without being quite sure we can deliver an equal, if not better, service out of one office," said Derby managing partner John Sarginson. The firm said there will be no compulsory redundancies, but the source said an email had been sent to support staff offering voluntary redundancy. The move follows the firm's decision to integrate financially all of its offices.
