Furley Page sets up shop in Lloyd’s building

Canterbury-headquartered firm Furley Page has opened in London in a bid to capitalise on the insurance market.

The London office, which is housed in the Lloyd’s building, will be headed and primarily staffed by Furley Page consultant Gary Marshall, although lawyers from other locations are also set to make use of the office.

Senior partner Peter Hawkes said: “We decided that to move forward with our insurance work we had to move to London and we decided that the Lloyd’s building was probably the best place for that. It’s an opportunity for us to do something positive in a difficult climate. We’re starting small on the basis that we can expand as needed.”

The firm’s insurance practice is part of the dispute litigation group, but only accounts for a small proportion of total turnover.
