Fulbright makes it two in a month with Denver launch

Fulbright & Jaworski is to open a Denver, Colorado, office, making it the firm’s second office launch in a month.

The expansion of its domestic coverage in the US Midwest market follows the firm’s launch in Beijing at the start of November. Both launches expand the Texas-based firm’s energy practice.

Fulbright has also recruited Colorado Oil & Gas Association senior vice president and general counsel Ken Wonstolen, who will join the office in January. Fulbright energy practice co-chair Jeff Dykes has relocated to head the new Denver office.

Wonstolen will join the firm in January as senior counsel, and senior associate Bret Sumner will complete the office compliment.

Fulbright chair Steven Pfeiffer said in a statement: “It’s important that Fulbright be on the ground in Denver to help our clients expedite energy development while protecting the outstanding environmental qualities found in the Rockies.

“We understand the structures and risks energy companies face in the US and abroad. Denver is an important place for our attorneys to have a permanent presence in order to best serve our current and future clients.”

The office will focus on energy litigation, regulatory compliance, and energy transactions. The energy practice numbers some 250 lawyers through the firm’s 16 offices.

Western lands and energy head Poe Leggette said: “[Wonstolen’s] experience helps clients reduce regulatory delays. We like to focus on environmental protection early in the process, so we can shorten the time it takes a company to find and develop a prospect.”
