Clifford Chance's newest banking and restructuring partner Nicholas Frome has taken on a massive piece of work for the firm.
Frome joined Clifford Chance at the start of September from Lovells, where he was head of business restructuring (The Lawyer, 8 January). He has scooped advising leading commercial banks in their negotiations with telecoms group Marconi. Allen & Overy's head of banking David Morley is advising Marconi on the investigation into a £1.85bn debt facility. Marconi is hoping to ensure that the banks cannot renege on an agreement made two months before the company issued a profits warning in July. It is understood that Clifford Chance banking partner Malcolm Sweeting advised on the original loan, but he is currently on holiday. Frome was unable to comment on the instruction.
