New York firm Paul Weiss Rifkind Wharton & Garrison has poached China specialist Gordon Chang from Baker & McKenzie's San Diego office. Chang will be based in the practice's Beijing office. As a partner at Baker & McKenzie he focused on financial advisory work, particularly in the Shanghai area, and worked in Hong Kong for 10 years. Chang moved back to the US and San Diego to follow a client from Citibank. He said he is moving to Paul Weiss because "I felt that I needed a firm with a strong New York and Asian practice that could give me better support than Baker & McKenzie could. They have got the Asian practice but not a strong New York base."
