Fried Frank Harris Shriver & Jacobson has launched an office in Shanghai, the firm’s second in China.
The new office will be headed by former Simmons & Simmons real estate partner Mike Hickman, who joined the firm in December 2006.
Last year (12 December) The Lawyer reported on Fried Frank’s second raid on Simmons, taking a total of seven partners to launch its first office in the region in Hong Kong.
Other key Simmons partners, such as former China regional managing partner Huen Wong and China corporate group head Stephen Mok, have been instrumental in Fried Frank’s growth in the region.
Fried Frank chairperson Valerie Ford Jacob said: “Our Shanghai office together with our Hong Kong office gives us a strong platform in Asia.”
Jacob added that the launch is designed to respond to key clients growth and activity in the region.
Hickman added: “Shanghai, one of the leading cities in China and globally, has become a major commercial and financial centre. Many of our local lawyers have participated in the explosive growth of cross-border capital raising activities in China.”
