In a sweeping victory for collective action, associates attending Freshfields’ inaugural away-day successfully pressured chief executive Ted Burke into signing the death warrant of the tatty rugs.
As you will remember from Lawyer News Daily (22 March), their demise was high on a wish list of associate demands.
And that was just the start of it. As a result of the forum, working groups made up of associates will be set up to formulate best practice at the firm on a number of topics, from work allocation to appraisals. See story.
On a more positive note, the associates made a vote of confidence for the Rocky biscuits and free fruit available.
The free nosh came joint fifth along with the umbrella theme of ‘sports and social’ in a list of their favourite things, which the associates were asked to compile last Friday.
