Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer London corporate head Mark Rawlinson is set to replace Tim Jones as head of the firm’s London office.
Rawlinson, who won the Partner of the Year gong at last week’s Lawyer Awards 2011, will begin his four-year term as London office managing partner in the summer, when Jones steps down to focus on client work, including his role in relation to Freshfields’ appointment as official law firm of the 2012 Olympics.
It is understood that Rawlinson was appointed following a board-level consultation at the firm.
Jones has been in charge of the London office since 2007, when he was installed as head of the London management committee (a position that has since changed title to office managing partner), replacing chief executive Ted Burke in the role. Before that Jones was London head of corporate.
Rawlinson succeeded Jones as London head of corporate in April 2008, a position he will relinquish when he becomes office head. It is not yet known who will replace Rawlinson as corporate chief.
Freshfields was appointed the official law firm of he London Organising Committee of the Olympic and Paralympic games in February 2009, and will provide pro bono advice, with Jones overseeing the project.
