Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer has drafted in Esrkine Chambers to defend P&O as DP World’s plans to takeover the company moves up to the Court of Appeal.
Freshfields has instructed Martin Moore QC to advise on a Court of Appeal hearing next week.
The court will consider a petition to appeal brought by Eller & Co, a US company that operates the port of Miami with P&O. The hearing was scheduled for today (3 March) but will now be heard next Monday (6 March) at 2.15pm.
The High Court approved the transaction yesterday (2 March). Eller is trying to block the high-profile takeover amid fears that the deal may destroy its business as port authorities cancel terminal leases over security issues. Eller is being represented by 2 Temple Gardens.
