Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer has appointed London dispute resolution partner Jonathan Isted as joint head of its consumer and healthcare sector group.
Isted replaces Julian Long, who took over as London corporate head last year (18 July 2011).
He joins Cologne IP/IT partner Matthias Koch in the role and took up the position, which carries a four-year term, earlier this month.
The role is appointed by the practice committee, a group chaired by managing partner Ted Burke dealing with day-to-day management issues. It includes the nine practice group chiefs and the regional heads, as well as global people partner Richard Norbruis and client partner Deirdre Trapp.
Burke said in a statement: “[Isted] brings a fresh perspective because of his focus on contentious regulatory matters – a perspective that is well suited to our clients in these sectors given the challenges they currently face.”
Isted already heads the European environment, planning and regulatory group, a sub-practice within the dispute resolution group. He joined the partnership in 1998.
