Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer has introduced the role of London M&A head, appointing former Asia managing partner Simon Marchant and TMT co-head Ben Spiers.
The duo will work alongside London corporate head Julian Long for a two-year term, effective immediately.
Freshfields said the roles are intended to spread responsibility for the practice more widely and enable a “much deeper focus” on developing the group strategically.
“These new roles are intended to spearhead an ever more co-ordinated and integrated approach to our M&A services and optimise our client offering around London-led M&A advisory roles,” Marchant said in a statement.
Spiers added: “These roles will boost our ability to better coordinate among our sectors groups and advance our know-how and overall offering to our global clients.”
Both Spiers and Marchant have previously been on the corporate practice’s business management team.
Spiers is also co-head of TMT, while Marchant has previously held the roles of Asia managing partner, global energy and natural resources head and global TMT head.
