Freshfields boosts US securities in HK with Credit Suisse in-houser

The magic circle firm has boosted its US law practice in Hong Kong by recruiting in-house lawyer Josh Zim-merman.
The move reunites Zimmerman with former Cravath Swaine & Moore colleague Joe Sevack. The pair were based in the US firm's Hong Kong office for about three years.
Sevack said: "For a US securities practice in Hong Kong, Josh is a very good catch. It is not easy to find people with the right experience."
Zimmerman's arrival increases the number of lawyers in Hong Kong focused on US securities work to seven. Sevack is one of two partners in the practice.
Tim Steinert, head of the US securities practice in Hong Kong, said: "Our US securities practice in Asia has gathered tremendous momentum in the last 18 months."
Securities, capital markets, initial public offering and M&A work has been on a steady increase. This growth has prompted the firm's expansion plans for the practice in Asia. Sevack said: "This market is an area that we would like to grow, but we're growing it selectively."
