Despite – or perhaps because of – the worst weather in the history of the tournament, the Taylor Root Law Society Sevens 2001, supported by The Lawyer Group, was won by Clyde & Co. The firm beat the bookies' favourites, holders and 11-time winners Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer by a resounding 25-0 in the final.
As readers will be aware, Tulkinghorn is more a football man than rugby (far too rough on one's frail limbs) and so was more interested in the side events, especially the bungee run. Unfortunately, due to the weather, no adults were able to participate. One child did manage to get in a go, however, and consequently walked away with the £50 Hamleys voucher. Sneaky.
