France's Gide and Portugal's Morais Leitão bolster partnerships with promotions

Gide Loyrette Nouel and Morais Leitão Galvão Teles Soares da Silva have kicked off the annual promotions round in Europe, announcing a number of new partners.

French independent Gide has promoted seven lawyers to the equity partnership, predominantly in its Paris headquarters. The figure compares favourably to last year’s promotions round, when Gide made up just two new partners (2 January 2011).

IP and TMT lawyer Raphaëlle Dequiré-Portier is the only new female partner, joining the partnership in Paris when the promotions take effect in January 2012.

Other partners to be made up in France include competition specialist Emmanuel Reille, corporate lawyer Renaud Rossa, employment-focused Foulques de Rostolan and finance lawyer Rémi Tabbagh.

Property lawyer Hugues Moreau is made up in Warsaw, while M&A specialist Thomas Urlacher joins the partnership in Beijing. Urlacher has also worked in Gide’s Paris and Casablanca offices.

Portuguese firm Morais Leitão has made up three lawyers to partner, bringing the total number in the partnership to 36. Corporate lawyers Liliana Malheiro Tomás, Jorge Simões Cortez and João Alfredo Afonso were all promoted.

Morais Leitão also promoted two lawyers to the position of senior lawyer.
