France’s Franklin hires real estate finance team from Wragges

French firm Franklin has hired a seven-strong property finance team from Wragge & Co in Paris, including partners David Blondel and Henry Ranchon.

Real estate finance partner Blondel and real estate specialist Ranchon join with a team of of counsel Juliette Brill and four associates.

The hires follow last year’s appointment by Franklin of a real estate team from Salans in Paris led by partner François Verdot, creating a property department at the independent firm.

Blondel and Ranchon both advise French and foreign businesses and investors on real estate investments and developments.

The duo were founding partners at Wragges in Paris, having joined when the UK firm raided French outfit Lefèvre Pelletier & Associés in 2010 (25 January 2010).

Franklin partner Mark Richardson said the hires were designed to add a more transactional element to Verdot’s investment-led property practice, which was developing well with new clients brought in over the past year.

Richardson added that Franklin was now looking at bringing in a tax team to support its corporate and property departments. Its current tax team, led by partner Jérôme Barré, is more focused on private client work.

Earlier this year Wragges lost a team of restructuring lawyers including partner Laurent Jourdan to French firm Racine (18 April 2013).
