India’s largest law firm by lawyer numbers, FoxMandal Little (FML), has hired a new head of copyright from specialist Indian IP firm Akash Chittranshi & Associates.
Rahul Beruar joins FML as a senior associate, and will focus on copyright enforcement, trademarks prosecution, intellectual property rights-related litigation and contracts.
Beruar said: “Copyright enforcement is the need of the time, as India has to have a viable intellectual property rights regime to sustain its growth."
In December 2007 he represented Harry Potter author JK Rowling on a copyright infringement action.
Beruar’s hire is the latest in a recruitment spree for FML which in the last year has seen it increase its head count by 63 lawyers (The Lawyer, 17 November).
