India's largest law firm Fox Mandal Little has continued its expansion drive by hiring a team from New Delhi-based law firm Khaitan & Co.
Fox Mandal head of international practice Som Mandal told The Lawyer: "Our need for corporate lawyers has increased because of foreign investment into India. Existing partners are just too busy."
Khaitan partner and head of the indirect tax practice Ashok Dhingra told The Lawyer: "We wish them all success in life."
Tax and corporate restructuring partner Rajan Gupta and a team of three associates all joined Fox Mandal, which has also promoted a further six lawyers to the partnership. The firm now has 49 partners.
The firm has also hired Prasanta Banerjee, the former chairman and managing director of the Gas Authority of India, to head its oil and gas practice.
