This year, The Lawyer’s annual ranking of the largest UK law firms by turnover is available as an interactive, digital benchmarking tool. For the first time this will allow you to manipulate each data set against the metrics of your choice.
SJ Berwin head of real estate Jon Vivian has quit the firm to join Irwin Mitchell, taking a team of three partners with him.
Vivian will join the firm with partners Lewis Myers, Rob Thompson and Jo Footitt.
Irwin Mitchell has made no secret of its intention to build a London real estate practice. In February the firm hired Geoffrey Lander, the former head of real estate at Nabarro legacy firm Nabarro Nathanson, to scout the market for senior recruits (3 February 2010).
Irwin Mitchell corporate partner David Beech said in a statement: “With these appointments we’ll have a strong platform in our London office providing a full service offering to our corporate clients.
“Our clear intention is to add exceptional legal knowledge to Irwin Mitchell’s ability in systemising legal processes to reduce costs for clients in commercial transactions in the UK and internationally.”
The firm’s ambition is to recruit and build a team that will cover all aspects of real estate law including construction, corporate, finance, funds, joint ventures and tax.
Vivian has headed SJ Berwin’s real estate group since January 2008, when he took over from then incumbent Bryan Pickup (13 November 2007).
