Bernie Ecclestone’s Formula One (F1) management group has expanded its in-house legal team with a hire from Memery Crystal.
Assistant Michelle Drake joins the small in-house team after three years in the corporate and sports departments of Memery Crystal. “I wasn’t looking to move, but this was a fantastic opportunity,” she said. “I wouldn’t leave for another law firm.” Drake said F1 was not a client of the firm at the time she was appointed to the in-house team. “There might be a relationship that will continue, but that’s not for me to say,” she commented. The team focuses on intellectual property (IP) rights. David Hansel, Memery Crystal’s head of IP and digital technology, said: “We’re grateful to Michelle for all the effort she’s put in to help Memery Crystal to develop and maintain its reputation for sports law.”
