Former Cleary managing partner joins Lazard in Paris

Cleary Gottlieb Steen & Hamilton New York partner Mark Walker has moved in-house to Lazard, taking up a role in the investment bank’s Paris office.

Walker, Cleary’s managing partner for six years until 2010, becomes senior adviser to Lazard’s global sovereign advisory group.

Matthieu Pigasse, who heads the group and Lazard Financial Advisory in France, said: “We’ve worked with Mark on a number of client assignments and have admired him over the years. We look forward to adding his unmatched expertise to our global sovereign advisory team.”

Walker has acted for public and private-sector clients on debt, energy and infrastructure finance, including for the governments of Mexico, Argentina and Colombia. He also advised the Federal Reserve Bank of New York and the US Treasury in relation to the financial crisis.

Walker stepped down from the Cleary managing partner role at the end of December 2010, having served a five-year term. He was succeeded by antitrust partner Mark Leddy (20 December 2010).
