The Lawyer Global Litigation Top 50 report is the only ranking of international law firms by litigation and arbitration revenue and is essential reading for anyone seeking to benchmark their litigation and dispute resolution practices...
This year, The Lawyer’s annual ranking of the largest UK law firms by turnover is available as an interactive, digital benchmarking tool. For the first time this will allow you to manipulate each data set against the metrics of your choice.
Burges Salmon’s former managing partner Guy Stobart is leaving the firm to take up the chief executive role at insurance firm Kennedys.
The move is a complete change of direction for Stobart (pictured), with Burges Salmon widely known for its corporate commercial practice focus. Kennedys, by contrast, has built its reputation in insurance litigation and professional negligence work.
Kennedys senior partner Nick Thomas told The Lawyer that the managing partner role would remain largely unchanged under Stobart.
“His job will be to make sure there’s a support structure for our lawyers,” Thomas said. “It’ll be business as usual, but I’m an open minded person - if he’s got ideas I’ll be open to them, but we’re sticking to our knitting.”
Stobart announced last year that Burges Salmon partner Chris Jackson would replace him as managing partner when he stood down in May this year (30 October 2008).
At Kennedys Stobart he will replace Ric Martin, who is relocating to Kennedys’ Hong Kong office, where he will take a position on the management team.
