Former BA legal chief joins Brick Court as door tenant

British Airways (BA) former general counsel Robert Webb QC has joined Brick Court Chambers as a door tenant two months after standing down from his in-house role.

As revealed by The Lawyer, Webb stood down from his position at BA at the end of March after 11 years with the airline (16 March).

Prior to taking on the in-house role Webb had spent 25 years at the bar, having held the role of head of chambers at 5 Bell Yard for the decade leading up to 1998.

Brick Court’s joint head of chambers Jonathan Sumption QC said Webb’s “uniquely broad knowledge of corporate governance and the aviation industry” would be an asset to the set.

Webb is a member of the BBC board, where he chairs the executive board’s fair trading committee, and a non-executive director of the London Stock Exchange.

At BA Webb has been succeeded by Maria De Cunha, a former Lloyds of London competition lawyer
