Alan Beller, partner at Cleary Gottlieb Steen & Hamilton, has been named Director of the Division of Corporation Finance of the United States Securities and Exchange Commission.
In addition he will fill the newly created role of Senior Counsellor to the Commission. Beller has been with the firm since 1976, becoming partner in 1984 and is the second partner from Cleary to fill the position. His practice at Cleary has focused on domestic and international securities and derivatives work. In the past he was involved with such deals as the initial public offerings of Goldman Sachs and Instinet, the privatisations of Singapore Telecom and Korea Telecom and the recent US listings of Deutsche Bank and Credit Suisse Group.
