Manchester firm Chaffe Street has shrunk from sixteen partners to just six and is merging with Liverpool based Brabners.
Three Chaffe Street insolvency partners, Shan Spencer, Pater Samekh and Martin Keates, are signed up to join DLA. Corporate partner Richard Hepworth has left for Manchester firm Cobbetts. In October 2001 four partners, Chris Lumsden, Anna Whetham, Paul Johnson and Sean Fitzgerald, left for Pinsent Curtis Biddle to create the national firm's Manchester office. According to Chaffe Street, partners Sean Reardan and Janine Allen are joining other firms, but it has not yet been confirmed where they are going.
Name and corporate partner Robert Street; corporate partners Tom Burton and Mark Brandwood, property partners John Street and Awen Wright and employment partner Paul Chamberlain will join the merged firm. The merged firm will be called Brabners Chaffe Street. Chaffe Street's Manchester premises will become the Manchester office of the merged firm, joining Brabners' offices in Liverpool and Preston.
