LOVELL White Durrant is making its first major move into the aviation finance market by acquiring a specialist partner-led team from Sinclair Roche & Temperley.
Sinclair Roche partner Robin Hallam, head of the firm's aviation team, and solicitors Guy Liddle and Keith Wilson will move to Lovells shortly.
Lovells aims to build on the team's specialist skills in bank lending, leasing and supplier finance, to compete with strong firms in the sector, such as Clifford Chance and Freshfields.
Leslie McDonagh, Lovells managing partner, says Hallam's team "will be able to develop the flourishing aviation finance practice" which they established at Sinclair Roche.
"The combination of specialist advice for the niche market and Lovells' existing banking, capital markets and corporate finance skills will enable us to give aviation clients a comprehensive service."
Hallam joins as a partner. His team will be based in Lovells' banking department, co-ordinated by partner John Penson. He says Hallam is a "recognised player" and praises his team for keeping busy in what has remained a flat market for several years.
