Niche insurance firm Fishburns has raided Weightmans’ London office for a professional indemnity team led by partner John Bennett.
Bennett joined Fishburns last week along with four assistants. He focuses on professional indemnity work, particularly in the barrister, solicitor and patent agent field.
Fishburns senior partner Anthony Marsh said: “It gives us the opportunity to go into areas where we’re less strong. It’s a new field and different clients.”
Bennett becomes Fishburns’ 11th partner. The firm demerged from Morgan Cole in November 2002, and last year turned over nearly £7m. Marsh said he expected the latest hires to add 15 per cent to the firm’s income.
