  • And after a couple of years he will be at yet another firm raking in the millions. This seems to be the name of the game these days - arrive with great fanfare (obviously having negotiated a large pay package), hang around for a couple of years, do as little as possible other than making a lot of noise, leave with a whimper (having negotiated a large pay package elsewhere). Way to go, partners!

  • Subjective to state '[Partners] do as little as possible other than making a lot of noise', if they aren't worth having then they wouldn't be worth paying.

  • Well, not such a stupid strategy actually. Get paid a guaranteed wedge for 2 years, move firm and then just keep repeating the formula after which, go back in house after hoovering up over £1.5M pa. As there are more law firms than number of years left in his career, makes a lot of sense... good luck Peter!
