Nabarro advises on £250m Watford Health Campus regeneration project
Nabarro has advised Watford Borough Council and West Hertfordshire Hospitals NHS Trust on the financial and legal close of a £250m regeneration project, which marks the first UK asset-backed vehicle between a local authority and developer to incorporate land of an NHS trust.
The Watford Health Campus will see the borough council and NHS trust working with the Kier group of companies to regenerate derelict land in west Watford, delivering up to 650 new homes and a new multi-storey car park and creating 1,600 jobs. It will also include major new road access and hospital facilities for Watford and south-west Hertfordshire.
The Nabarro team working on the project was led by partner and head of projects Stephen Matthew, supported by senior associate Janet Lewis and associates Georgia Lewis and Lucinda Harris. The team provided detailed public law advice, as well as negotiating the various commercial agreements and funding arrangements of the deal.
