KWM sponsors establishment of new chair at University of New South Wales
King & Wood Mallesons (KWM) has sponsored the establishment of a new chair at the University of New South Wales (UNSW) in partnership with the Centre for International Finance and Regulation (CIFR).
The relationship makes KWM the sole legal partner of CIFR, joining its other industry partners Macquarie Group, Commonwealth Bank and KPMG.
Based at UNSW Law, the chair will be filled by UNSW Scientia Professor Ross Buckley. Buckley is described as a top thought leader on financial governance. He won the only Australian Research Council Discovery Outstanding Researcher Award in law this year for a project looking at systemic responses to global financial instability.
The high-impact research of the chair will have practical policy application via CIFR’s extensive engagement with finance sector industry participants, industry associations, government and regulatory agencies in Australia and the Asia-Pacific.
