Hogan Lovells partner receives award from Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation
Hogan Lovells has announced that Los Angeles litigation partner Dean Hansell has been awarded the first-ever Founders Award from the Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD) in recognition of his 27 years of service to the organisation.
Hansell was honoured during the 24th Annual GLAAD Media Awards held in Los Angeles on 20 April.
Hansell was one of the co-founders of GLAAD/LA, serving as its co-president for three years.
Early on, the GLAAD hotline, which provided people with an outlet for reporting incidents of media defamation, was run out of his house.
He has opened his home over the years to more than 50 GLAAD events, including numerous membership and board meetings (until the organisation outgrew the space), major donor meet-and-greets and the annual summer event, which typically draws 400–500 attendees, including political figures and celebrities.
