DLA Piper and Chibesakunda & Co advise Syngenta on acquisition of MRI
DLA Piper and its Zambian Group Firm Chibesakunda & Co have advised Basel-based Syngenta Group on the acquisition of MRI Seed Zambia Ltd and MRI Agro Ltd (together, MRI).
Syngenta has more than 27,000 employees in more than 90 countries and operates in the crop protection, seeds and lawn and garden markets.
MRI is a developer, producer and distributor of white corn seed in Zambia.
The DLA Piper team was led by Jon Kenworthy and Dr Benjamin Parameswaran (both corporate) as joint global lead partners and included inter alia partner Alan Chalmers (employment) as well as associate Sebastian Decker (corporate).
Syngenta was advised on Zambian law issues by a team of DLA Piper’s Zambian Group Firm Chibesakunda & Co led by partners Mwelwa Chibesakunda and Mutale Kasonde.
