Northern Irish firm Carson McDowell has hired a duo of partners from Pinsent Masons’ Belfast office in a bid to strengthen its position in the local market.
Real estate partner Dawson McConkey and finance partner Sinead McGrath will both join Carson McDowell later this year. The hires bring the number of partners at the firm to 21.
McGrath advises lenders and borrowers on transactions including real estate and acquisition financing as well as restructuring.
Meanwhile McConkey’s real estate practice has a particular focus on the renewable energy sector.
Pinsents legacy firm McGrigors opened in Belfast in 2000 and substantially boosted its presence there in 2009 when it merged with L’Estrange & Brett (28 August 2009).
Carson McDowell managing partner Michael Johnston said the duo would bring extra depth to the firm. “Carson McDowell is firmly focused on being the ‘go-to’ law firm for Northern Irish businesses as well as law firm of choice for international companies requiring local legal counsel,” he added.
