This year, The Lawyer’s annual ranking of the largest UK law firms by turnover is available as an interactive, digital benchmarking tool. For the first time this will allow you to manipulate each data set against the metrics of your choice.
Ashurst has made up 12 lawyers to partner from 1 May in its annual promotions round, with seven sitting in the London headquarters.
The move increases the firm’s proportion of partners based outside of the UK to 52 per cent compared with 47 per cent following its 2012 promotions.
It has added four partners in corporate, three in energy, transport and infrastructure, two in real estate and one each in banking, disputes and tax.
In addition to the seven City additions, two have been made up in Madrid and one each in Hong Kong, Paris and Rome.
The partner additions are down on 2012, when Ashurst promoted 16, including 11 in London (28 March 2012). In 2011 it added 12, with only three in the City (14 April 2011).
The promotions exclude Ashurst Australia, which makes partners up separately in July (2 July 2012).
Senior partner Charlie Geffen said in a statement: “I would like to congratulate the partners on their promotions. They are all highly talented lawyers with outstanding leadership qualities. We are confident they will make a significant contribution to their practices, deliver excellence for our clients and enhance Ashurst’s credentials as a premier global law firm.”
Rome corporate counsel Aian Abbas is the firm’s only female partner promotion this year. In total, 13 per cent of the partnership will now be women, the firm said.
