The Ministry of Defence (MoD) is choosing a law firm to handle its provision of all legal services in Scotland.
According to an MoD spokesman, the decision, based on a tendering process, should be announced in the next two weeks. The successful firm will advise the MoD on all its Scottish affairs for five years. Scottish firms McGrigor Donald and current adviser Robson McLean WS are among the firms to have tendered for the contract. Robson McLean has done mainly commercial property and litigation work for the MoD for the past five years. According to managing partner Duncan Murray, the firm has a strong chance of its contract being renewed. "We hope we'll be successful in the retendering. We think we've done a good job for the MoD," he said. McGrigor Donald managing partner Kirk Murdoch declined to comment on his firm's chances at this stage in the tendering process.
