In addition to Clifford Chance and Sullivan & Cromwell's work on the £45.5bn merger with Barclays, Cleary Gottlieb Steen & Hamilton has represented ABN's financial advisers, while Skadden Arps Slate Meagher & Flom did the same for Barclays. Allen & Overy, Davis Polk & Wardwell and Nauta Dutilh are advising ABN on both its Barclays merger and on the £49bn approach from a consortium of the Royal Bank of Scotland, Santander and Fortis.
