Taylor Wessing advises Brentford FC on application for 20,000-seat stadium
Taylor Wessing has advised Brentford FC on the successful planning application for a new 20,000-seat stadium. The club will now proceed to develop a 20,000-capacity stadium at Lionel Road South together with community facilities, 910 new homes, a hotel and supporting retail uses, as well as public transport improvements and enhancements to the public realm.
The development will generate new business alongside job and training opportunities for local people. Following stadium completion, the current ground, Griffin Park, will be redeveloped with more than 100 new homes being provided.
According to Chris Gammon, director of the football club’s development arm, Lionel Road Developments, the opportunity to build a vibrant new Community Stadium will help underpin the long-term sustainability of the football club and regenerate a run-down area within Brentford.
Alistair Watson led the team, which was made up of Holly Grundon (planning associate), Adam Marks (real-estate partner), Scott Harrison (real-estate senior counsel), Joanne Kelly (construction partner) and Jill Carey (real-estate disputes senior associate).
