Stephenson Harwood hires partner in marine and international trade practice
Stephenson Harwood has appointed Michael Kim as a partner in the marine and international trade practice. Kim, who has a leading reputation in the Korean market, brings additional breadth of expertise and experience to the firm, including experience in shipping, ship finance, shipbuilding and offshore and general commercial litigation and arbitration matters.
He joins from DLA Piper, where he was a partner and chief representative of the Seoul office.
Kim will be based in Stephenson Harwood’s London office initially. The firm plans to apply to open an office in South Korea, of which he will become managing partner.
In both contentious and transactional areas, Kim has a strong reputation in Korea. Listed by Thomson Reuters in its Super Lawyer 2013 rankings, his clients include major ship yards, shipping companies, P&I clubs, insurers and banks.
