Penningtons Manches

UK 200 2013 position: 90

Penningtons Manches hires personal injury practitioner Warren Collins

Warren Collins, a personal injury practitioner and former head of Simpson Millar’s catastrophic injury team, has joined the Penningtons Manches personal injury team.

With more than 20 years of handling catastrophic personal injury and fatal accident claims arising from UK and overseas accidents, Collins will be based in the London office, boosting the firm’s clinical negligence and personal injury practice to seven partners and 23 fee earners.

He will be working with current partners Philippa Luscombe and Mark Lee, who head Penningtons Manches’ UK and international personal injury teams respectively.

Collins is involved in personal injury and medical malpractice litigation throughout the world and has conducted claims across Europe, Asia, the Far East, Australia, the US and the Caribbean. He is a member of and assessor for the Law Society’s Personal Injury Panel; national co-ordinator of the Spinal Cord Injury Special Interest Group to the Association of Personal Injury Lawyers (APIL); and a member of APIL’s panels of spinal cord injury and brain injury experts.

He also has a special interest in US work, where he is a leading member of the American Association for Justice (AAJ), formerly the Association of Trial Lawyers of America. He is the founding member and immediate past co-chair of AAJ’s Spinal Cord Injury Litigation Group and past co-chair of AAJ’s International Practice Section.

Collins is also the only UK solicitor member of the Melvin Belli Society of pre-eminent personal injury lawyers of the US and the National Crime Victim Bar Association of America.

In November 2013, he received an award from UKABIF for inspiration in brain injury and was also named as Claimant Personal Injury Lawyer of the Year 2013 at the Eclipse Proclaim Personal Injury Awards 2013.

His expertise is independently recognised by his entries as a leader in his field in both The Legal 500 and Chambers UK, which describe Warren as an ‘“excellent communicator” with good knowledge of the law’ and as ‘a top performer — he’s very experienced and he knows exactly how to run a catastrophic case’.
