Speechly Bircham has made up six partners this year in its biggest promotions round in a decade.
Two partners have been added to the firm’s real estate practice, with its private client, corporate, construction and private equity teams being gifted one each. All six of the new partners reside in the firm’s London office.
The promotions lie in stark constrast to last year’s round, when only one senior associate – Paul Henty – was made up to partner in the firm’s competition group.
In 2012, the firm added two partners, while in 2011 it made up four.
The firm opened its third office in Geneva in September (2 September 2013) and in Paris three months later (25 November 2013). It is currently in the midst of merger talks with Charles Russell, with a view to creating a £126m firm with a spot in the top 25 by turnover according to The Lawyer UK200 (21 February 2013).
The promotions will bring the firm’s total number of partners up to 82, when they take effect on 1 May.
