DAC Beachcroft has promoted 16 lawyers to partner, more than tripling the five promotions it made last year.
DAC Beachcroft made up partners across five offices in the UK and in nine practice areas. The promotions will become effective from 1 May 2014 and will take the total number of partners to 256.
Corporate and commercial and real estate saw the largest number of promotions, with three each. The employment and pensions, motor and claims validation groups each elected two, while the global, practice governance and risk, casualty and large loss teams promoted one each.
In the latest promotion round, London and Bristol house the largest number of new partners, with five and four respectively. Leeds and Birmingham both had three while one in Newport. In addition, the firm promoted two associates to partner in its Madrid office at the end of December 2013.
This year’s promotion round also reflected a good balance of female and male lawyers, as nine of the new partners are female.
“After years of relative steadiness, this year’s bumper promotion numbers are a clear sign of our solid commercial performance to date and the ambition we have for future growth,” said DAC Beachcroft managing partner Paul Murray.
The number of promotions this year and the range of practice areas they are in both saw a significant increase from the year before, when the firm only made up five across two practices, claims solutions and global.
The bumper promotion round comes after a year of strong revenue growth at DAC Beachcroft. It reported revenues of £188.2m for the financial year 2012/13, up by 14 per cent from £164.8m in 2011/12 (15 July 2013).
Net profit at the firm was £31.8m at the end of the last financial year, up 42 per cent from £22.4m in 2011/12. However, average profit per equity partner (PEP) was £284,000, down 11 per cent from £321,000 the previous year.
It is the second round of promotions after the November 2011 merger between Beachcroft and Davies Arnold Cooper (31 October 2011).
