Clyde & Co has made up five UK-based lawyers to partner as part of a nine-strong promotions round to take effect on Thursday (1 May).
Last year the firm made up just two UK-based partners when it unveiled a slimmed-down promotions round, in which one partner was added to each of seven separate offices (1 May 2013).The promotions round was half that of 2012, when 14 lawyers joined the partnership (1 May 2012).
Rob Collins (marine and international trade), Keith Conway (dispute resolution) Simon Jackson (insurance - energy, marine), Annabelle Redman (real estate) and Charles Urquhart (employment) have all been made up in London.
The four international promotions comprise of two in Dubai, one in Dar es Salaam and one in Toronto.
The firm’s dispute resolution team saw the bulk of the promotions with three this year, while there was one appointment being made to each of the marine and international trade, insurance (energy, marine), real estate, employment, corporate and finance teams.
Just two of the nine new partners are women: one in Guildford and one in Dubai.
The firm also announced the promotion of 12 partners to senior equity, double the number the firm promted last year.
Clydes has made 12 lateral partner hires in the last two months, some of whom are yet to be announced, bringing the total number of partners at the firm to 307 worldwide.
Clyde & Co’s LLP members more than halved their capital contributions to the firm last year, from £18m to £6.7m, according to accounts filed with Companies House in January (22 January 2014).
The firm added 39 members over 2012/13 and raised the discretionary profit share by over 20 per cent to £81.6m on top of a remuneration package of £3.3m.
