Ogier creates Local Legal Services team to serve Channel Islands business and individuals
A cross-practice team at Ogier in Jersey and Guernsey has been formalised to create the Ogier Local Legal Services team, which provides pan-island legal services for local Channel Islands businesses and individuals.
Services include: competition law; corporate and commercial; employment; commercial property and related services; property finance; regulatory law; estate planning; and litigation.
The team gives local legal advice to Channel Islands businesses including banks, trust companies, private family offices, retailers, landlords, developers, tenants, land owners, agricultural companies, accountancy firms, mortgage companies, IT companies, hotel owners and operators, media companies, utility companies and insurers.
The Ogier Local Legal Services team has recently advised UK group Claverley and Jersey’s Guiton Group on its sale of pan-island IT business ITEX to the C5 Alliance Group. The deal, which completed on 31 July, marked a significant milestone for members of the Ogier team who had originally assisted Guiton with its acquisition of ITEX almost 13 years ago.
Other notable transactions that the Local Legal Services team has recently been involved with include providing employment law advice in relation to the new housing and work regulations in Jersey and the sale of St Pierre Park Hotel in Guernsey by SandpiperCI.
