Minter Ellison advises government of Western Australia in agreement to expand agriculture
The government of Western Australia has signed the Ord Development Agreement with Kimberley Agricultural Investment (KAI), an Australian company wholly owned by China’s Shanghai ZhongFu Group.
The Ord Development Agreement initiates a staged investment process that will see KAI construct infrastructure and develop and crop new farmland eventually doubling the Ord Irrigation Scheme.
Minter Ellison acted as legal adviser to the government of Western Australia in its negotiations with the Chinese Group.
The team was led by partner Adam Handley, who co-chairs Minter Ellison’s China practice.
