Lisa Marks joins Stephenson Harwood as London asset finance partner

Stephenson Harwood has appointed Lisa Marks as an asset finance partner in London. She joins from Berwin Leighton Paisner, where she has been a partner in the finance practice for eight years. Prior to this, she was a partner in the finance team at Denton Wilde Sapte.

Marks is a leasing and asset finance specialist, with particular expertise in receivables, operating leases and asset-backed lending, often with a cross-border or project finance element.

Her clients include banks and financial institutions, and much of her recent work has concentrated on finance agreements for rolling stock, data centre equipment, medical equipment and aircraft.

Last year, Marks was appointed governor of the Leasing Foundation, an organisation supported by all the key banks and financial institutions involved in asset finance. She is the first lawyer to hold this post.

  • CGT extension — some good news (at last)

HMRC released its preliminary views of the CGT consultation exercise and it seems there has been an outbreak of generosity towards taxpayers, or some of you anyway.

  • Private patient units

It is widely expected that the trend of NHS hospitals seeking to establish or expand their private patient units offerings will continue.
