King & Wood Mallesons appoints Michael Perez to tax team in Melbourne
King & Wood Mallesons has announced the lateral partner appointment of Michael Perez to its tax team. Perez will join the law firm’s Melbourne office in January.
He joins King & Wood Mallesons from Allens, where he established a practice advising clients such as Rio Tinto, Tabcorp, BHP Billiton, Ford and Shell on matters including reorganisations, demergers, financing arrangements and mergers and acquisitions.
Perez’s expertise in stamp duty, goods and services tax (GST) and income tax, together with his strong track record in managing complex tax audits and tax litigation, will complement King & Wood Mallesons’ tax team, which is ranked Tier 1 in the 2013 Chambers Asia-Pacific Directory.
He is the third partner appointment to the tax practice this year. Perez is consistently ranked as one of the top-performing tax practitioners in Australia by both Chambers Global (2006–12) and Best Lawyers (2008–12).
